91AV OER Fellowship Projects

Open educational resource (OER) offerings have grown significantly over the last several years, and choosing the right materials can be challenging. A growing number of open textbooks are available online for faculty to use.

91AV cares about student textbook costs and equitable access to information. Many of 91AV’s faculty members have chosen to use openly licensed materials in their courses. These materials maintain quality while radically decreasing student costs. View a sample of OER materials created and remixed by 91AV faculty.

91AVs OER Committee is committed to educating stakeholders on the benefits of OER, facilitating the discovery and creation of the OER curriculum, and developing innovative strategies for sustainability.

OER Fellowship iconTo support faculty adoption and adaptation of open materials, members of the 91AV OER committee in collaboration with the 91AV Center for Teaching and Learning are able to coordinate with departments to facilitate transitions to open resources. We also work with faculty to leverage stipends/reassigned time or grants to compensate faculty for researching OER materials, authoring new materials, and remixing existing materials.

Join our OER Fellowship!

Each year the 91AV OER Committee invites residential faculty to participate in our OER fellowship project. Whether you are brand new to the world of OER or an expert, we encourage you to join us. Our goal is to empower our faculty to discover, revise, remix, enhance, or expand upon existing open content. The program will be facilitated by 91AV OER faculty, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Library faculty, and faculty accepted into the fellowship will gain valuable OER experience, personalized training, and have the opportunity to work directly with mentors.

See what other faculty are saying about the fellowship!

Faculty choose from three options:

  • OPTION 1 Discovery - Find and use existing OER resources that are available and implement them into your course.

  • OPTION 2 Creation - Develop your own materials and incorporate them into your course.

  • OPTION 3 Create/Remix/Revise - Combine your own material with existing OER and incorporate it into your course

The project includes 1.0 load hours for participation (.5 load to create and implement in class) and completion (.5 load to review and evaluate). The fellowship is limited to 5 applicants for each cohort. Final projects will be evaluated by the 91AV OER Committee and shared in the 91AV OER Course and Canvas Commons.
